The Steven Gordon Leadership Award**
Steve Gordon, a 1993 Shawnee High School graduate, has established a $5,000 scholarship to honor graduating senior(s) who have demonstrated a real commitment to making Shawnee High School a better place through leadership and participation in school activities. The scholarships have been incrementally distributed to 1 or more applicants according to Mr. Gordon after review of applications. Applicants should have above average grades and a strong record of participation in a variety of school activities. Applications are due in the guidance office by April 28 at 3 p.m.

Lima Junior Service League Scholarship
The Lima Junior Service League is a non-profit social organization committed to promoting children's literacy and the well being of women and children through fundraising and service to the community.  This year the group will award two $1,000 scholarships.   Qualified applicants are any graduating  Allen County senior who intends to pursue a degree in education or an education-related field. Applications available in guidance office...Deadline May 15.
A complete application includes:

  • A completed application
  • One 250-500 word essay (typed on a separate piece of paper) that address the 2 provided questions

The Andia Shisler Memorial Scholarship**
The applications for the Andia Shisler Memorial Scholarship are available in the guidance office now. There are two $500 awards. Andia Shisler was a 2009 graduate of Shawnee High School. She was attending Urbana University majoring in middle childhood education and a member of the Women’s Soccer Team when she was tragically killed in a car accident. The questions in the application are designed about her love for life and using the strength of family and friends to succeed. Deadline for submission to Guidance Office is April 28.

Horatio Alger Association Career and Technical Scholarship Program
Scholarships are offered at the title link for technical and career education students as well as other state and national opportunities.

The Jeremy Hutchison Memorial Scholarship **
This scholarship originated when Jeremy and his father, Jeff, were killed in a plane crash on Sept. 3, 2007. Jeremy was 9 years old and in the 4th grade. It is [the family's] intent to honor Jeremy by reaching out beyond our loss to help others. One of the things he did best was to seek out those who were hurting or needing help, and take care of them. The scholarship was inspired by a questionnaire that Jeremy answered his first day of 4th grade.
Applications are available in guidance office and deadline is April 28.

Medical Mutual Scholarship
Medical Mutual is the oldest and largest health insurer based in Ohio. For 80 years, we have been serving our members and the Ohio communities where they live and work. Application is online at title link. Deadline is May 31.

IAFF Local 2550 Fire/Medical Service Educational Scholarship
Scholarships available for students entering fire/health/medical fields. Applications are available in Guidance Office.

The Ohio State University Alumni Scholarship

The Ohio State University Alumni Scholars Program (ASP) is intended to recruit, provide recognition and financial assistance to outstanding incoming freshmen. The Ohio State University Alumni Association coordinates the program, with the support of the local alumni club, the offices of Admissions and Undergraduate Financial Aid, and the Office of University Development. General Requirements:

  • Accepted to The Ohio State University
  • Demonstrating involvement in school and community activities
  • Showing a sound interest and positive attitude toward college work
  • Suggested ranking in the top 10% of your high school graduating class

Shawnee Guidance Department gets scores of mailings regarding scholarships and funding for college. The above web site is a research and hub for many scholarships nationwide.
