Shawnee Local School District

Shawnee local Schools has four school facilities. Shawnee High School, Shawnee Middle School, Maplewood Elementary , and Elmwood Elementary . All buildings have well-equipped science labs, state-of the-art computers, and comprehensive library/media centers. Shawnee High School has a number of advanced placement course offerings, excellent fine arts classes, technology coursework, tech programs, etc.

The arts are encouraged. Students continually score in the "superior category" at state competitions in both vocal and instrumental music. The community has the Lima Concert Band and Lima Symphony Orchestra in which students, former students, and staff participate.

Extra-curricular activities are a source of school pride. Shawnee competes in the Western Buckeye league, winning several league All-Sport Trophies. Shawnee offers ten varsity sports for both boys and girls. Shawnee is a member of a local consortium of districts which supports the Apollo Career Center, where students can take a variety of vocational and career pathways courses. It is also a member district that is served by the Allen County Educational Service center.
