It has been a very busy three days of training to end the week. Today, I spoke to the staff about how special all of our students are. I showed them a poster that says, "A child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each one is different. Each one is special. Each one is beautiful." The teachers are ready to fulfill our mission for the year...to help students grow.
School begins Monday. We are all excited to see students again. We have adjusted how our PPE will be used. The staff has decided to keep the PPE in their classroom rather than students carrying it from class-to-class.

Today we received an original 1927 Quilna from Mr. Tim Ludwig. Mr. Ludwig also gifted Quilna's from 1944, 1942 and 1938. Thank you for your generosity!
Students should hydrate all throughout the course of these hot days. Students may bring water to school in a clear, plastic container. They can also purchase water (a water bottle) at lunch or breakfast. These can be used in the classrooms and hallways. It will be important this year to have an individualized water bottle. We can not use the drinking fountains. We have ordered water filling stations; however, I am not sure they will be delivered and ready to use right at the beginning of school.
Parents/Caregivers will have to fill out the "traditional" first day of school paperwork via new software called "Final Forms." Please fill out your student's paperwork now. Go to the District Webpage under the "News" section for the link to "Final Forms".
An adjustment has been made to the earlier published COVID Newsletter, the status of face shields changed over the weekend. Per an announcement 8/15 per the State Health Department, face shields may only be worn by students or staff with a documented health condition.
Our apologies...we fixed a few typos in yesterday's newsletter. Click https://www.limashawnee.com/o/shawnee-middle/browse/106956 to view.
If your 8th grade student is taking any advanced classes, please do not pre-write your check for fees. The fees listed in the newsletter are inaccurate. You will get an itemized statement on your student's schedule when picking up fees.
